About this trip
Departures are set against the Japan Meteorological Corporation's bloom forecast and adjusted each year. Mornings start early because the Philosopher's Path and the Arashiyama bamboo grove are transformed by being empty. One night is spent in temple lodgings on Mount Koya, with the monks' morning service at six.
